Technical Expertise (Technical Mentor)
Targeted mentoring services including matching your particular need with seasoned professionals, sometimes a team of several mentors in cross cutting subject matters to provide expert guidance and training to support technology refinements, market development, and commercialization. UCR has a network of over 80 mentors on hand, including expert faculty, former CEO and CTOs, and industry advisors in most areas of sustainability related verticals, from cyber-security and robotics to critical minerals and nano-engineering and plant genetics.
Joint Research Opportunities and Partnerships
UCR partners with industry in a variety of ways including submission for joint grants such as SBIR; hosting training and sponsorship of capstone projects, holding roundtables for educating and advancing technology forward policies, and other faculty and student engagement activities. We also have several consortia that link industry professionals, representatives from government and regulatory agencies, researchers, and educators with the resources needed to address pressing environmental challenges in air quality, mobility, and renewable energy. Member benefits include first access to technology and intellectual property, 1:1 collaboration with research faculty and students, recommendations to prioritize directed research projects, and inter-campus networking and branding opportunities.
Technical Training and Opportunities
Several training programs specifically are designed for community members to learn the technology basics and simultaneously the process of becoming an entrepreneur and building a technology company in 2 of the fastest growing areas: Agriculture technologies and Sustainable transportation. UCR also hosts seminars and workshops in sustainability verticals open to the public. For example, our sustainability office develops programs that showcase the environmental, economic, and socio-cultural relationships to meet our current needs and those of future generations.
